CSTA’s Semi-Annual Meeting is fast approaching! With our members and colleagues busily making plans for the fall, I’d like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to you to join us for this important meeting from November 25 to 27, 2018 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Although it has not been long since we met in July, a lot of hard work has been done on issues of significance and we’re looking forward to providing you with updates and the opportunity to discuss these matters with other members and industry representatives. We greatly value the chance to hear from our members and the Semi-Annual Meeting provides an excellent opportunity for you to provide your feedback and to let us know if you agree with the direction that the Association is headed.

Since our last meeting there have been many developments that we’d like to update you on at the Semi-Annual Meeting, including:

  • Seed Synergy;
  • Value creation;
  • International trade agreements; and
  • Work from the Stakeholder Relations Working Group.

In addition, important committee work on topics such as plant breeding innovation, government regulations on neonicotinoids, international phytosanitary standards and intellectual property protection will be discussed.

Delegates will certainly enjoy days full of information sharing and discussion, but they will also have plenty of time to socialize with friends both new and old during the President’s Reception, informal reception and delegate lunches. Do plan to take some time to explore beautiful Ottawa and experience the many fine restaurants and events that the city has to offer as well. For more information on the city, please visit Ottawa Tourism’s website.

I’d also encourage you to visit our site often as we are still in the process of finalizing the agenda and other meeting details.

Finally, a reminder that our meeting is held just prior to the GrowCanada Conference. For those of you who have never attended GrowCanada – it is a world class event. It’s a great opportunity to expand your horizons and meet with leaders from across the agriculture industry in Canada.

We hope that you will start making your plans now to join us in Ottawa this November and we look forward to seeing you there!

Todd Hyra
2018-2019 President
