Tyler McCann

Interim Executive Director

Tyler joined CSTA in January 2020 as Interim Executive Director. In this role, Tyler will support the Board of Directors, provide oversight of financial issues, supervise staff and contractors and act as the senior point of contact for the CSTA. He will also oversee ongoing projects, committees, advocacy and policy work to ensure momentum on key issues for CSTA members, including Seed Synergy, plant breeding innovation, value creation, and seed regulatory modernization.

Tyler is a Senior Associate with T. Bjornson and Associates (B&A), an Ottawa based consulting firm that works exclusively in the agriculture and food space. He has a strong background in government relations, policy, strategy, international trade and association management. Tyler served as the Interim Executive Director for the Grain Growers of Canada and has consulted on strategy, policy, and international trade for clients across Canada in a variety of agriculture sectors. Before his work in consulting, Tyler worked for the federal government, including almost ten years working for the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food.

Tyler lives in Bristol, Quebec, where he and his wife operate a beef farm.

Liz Lumsden

Manager, Communications and Member Services

Liz Lumsden is the Manager, Communications and Member Services. She leads external and internal communications to build on CSTA’s strong reputation and ensure value for membership.

Liz joins CSTA from the Ontario Public Service, where she spent over six years working in strategic communications. Liz led stakeholder and public consultations across the province, wrote speeches for members of Cabinet and developed communications plans on high-profile files. She held senior advisory roles at the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and Ministry of International Trade.

Liz holds an Honours Degree in History and Early Modern Studies from the University of Kings College and Dalhousie University and an Honours Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Humber College. Liz is also a recipient of the Ontario Amethyst Award for Excellence in Public Service.

Claudio Feulner

Manager, Regulatory Affairs and Trade

Claudio Feulner is the Manager, Regulatory Affairs and Trade of the CSTA, reporting directly to the Executive Director. He acts as the technical and scientific lead for the association. Additionally, he keeps the committees engaged all year round to ensure progress on work plan items.

Claudio holds a Master of Science degree in plant science and cell biology from RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Prior to joining CSTA in September 2017, Claudio focused on phytopathology and plant stress physiology during his studies.

He accumulated three years of practical research laboratory experience including work with CRISPR-Cas9. A certificate in integrated pest management was also part of his education.

Kristen Hendricks

Executive Assistant and Meeting Planner

Kristen Hendricks is the Executive Assistant and Meeting Planner of the CSTA and reports directly to the Executive Director.

Kristen joined CSTA in January 2012 and has conducted a variety of administrative roles as needed by the association. Each year she focuses on planning and delivering quality semi-annual and annual meetings across Canada to be enjoyed by the CSTA members.

Prior to joining CSTA, Kristen worked in both the Human Resources and Recruitment departments of local high-tech companies before running a home daycare while staying home with her two kids.

Kristen holds a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from Algonquin College.
