Dave Carey is the Executive Director of the CSTA and reports directly to the Board of Directors. He is a government relations, regulatory affairs, policy and international trade professional with extensive association management, political and campaign experience.
Dave joined CSTA in May 2012 and has held roles of increasing seniority focusing on stakeholder and government relations, regulatory affairs, policy development and international trade.
Prior to joining CSTA, Dave worked on Parliament Hill for the Members of Parliament for Oakville and Calgary Centre and Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade.
Dave holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a Concentration in Public Law from Brock University and has continued his professional development by earning course certificates from several universities. Dave is also a member of the Government Relations Institute of Canada.
As a volunteer, Dave has worked on two federal and one provincial election campaigns as a Strategist and Communications and Research Team Member. Dave has also spent time as a volunteer builder for Habitat for Humanity International.
Manager, Regulatory Affairs and Trade

Claudio Feulner is the Manager, Regulatory Affairs and Trade of the CSTA, reporting directly to the Executive Director. He acts as the technical and scientific lead for the association. Additionally, he keeps the committees engaged all year round to ensure progress on work plan items.
Claudio holds a Master of Science degree in plant science and cell biology from RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Prior to joining CSTA in September 2017, Claudio focused on phytopathology and plant stress physiology during his studies.
He accumulated three years of practical research laboratory experience including work with CRISPR-Cas9. A certificate in integrated pest management was also part of his education.
Government and Industry Relations Coordinator

Lauren Martin, Government and Industry Relations Coordinator, reports directly to the Executive Director. Lauren is the newest member of the team, having joined CSTA in 2018. In her role, she identifies the issues of CSTA’s membership and collaborates with government staff, elected politicians and our stakeholders to remedy them.
Raised on a farm in Southern Ontario, Lauren’s passion for food and agriculture is life-long. She has worked on a range of local, national and international food and agricultural issues; most notably interning with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. A lawyer by training, she practiced law for a few years before returning to agriculture. Prior to joining CSTA, Lauren was in a similar advocacy role with the Canada Organic Trade Association.
Lauren’s education includes an Honors Bachelor of Environmental Studies and Business from the University of Waterloo and a Juris Doctorate degree from the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University.
When not at work, Lauren can be found outside with her horse, on her skis or bike, or eating good food.
Manager, Communications and Member Engagement

Kim Sabourin, our Manger of Communications and Member Engagement, reports directly to the Executive Director. Kim joined CSTA in April 2017 and is responsible for all communications and is working to ensure that our membership remains engaged.
Throughout her career, Kim has worked primarily in the not-for-profit sector in communication and community relations roles. Prior to joining CSTA, she worked for 5 years in roles of increasing responsibility in the field of International Education.
Kim holds a High Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a concentration in Sociology and Minor in Law from Carleton University and a Masters of International Relations from Webster Graduate School in the UK.
Outside of work, Kim is a mom to a little girl and a golden retriever. She enjoys volunteering and has spent time working with organizations such as the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation.

Kristen St. Denis is the Executive Administrator and Meeting Planner of the CSTA and reports directly to the Executive Director.
Kristen joined CSTA in January 2012 and has conducted a variety of administrative roles as needed by the association. Each year she focuses on planning and delivering quality semi-annual and annual meetings across Canada to be enjoyed by the CSTA members.
Prior to joining CSTA, Kristen worked in both the Human Resources and Recruitment departments of local high-tech companies before running a home daycare while staying home with her two kids.
Kristen holds a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources from Algonquin College.
